    Error 0xc000428 dual-booting Win 7 with Win 8.1

I've had this problem for some time now. Ever since I installed Windows 8.1 to a new partition to run alongside Windows 7, I've received this error when trying to boot into Windows 7 for winload.efi: Error 0xc000428, Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file.

Until encountering this issue, I didn't realize that I'd have to make a full image backup prior to installing an OS on a new partition, but this is where I stand right now. A full reformat is not really an option.

I've tried the typical bootrec commands in the command prompt, attempted startup repairs several times, getting rid of the bootmgr file followed by startup repair, several operations in Visual BCD/Dual-boot repair and Easy BCD, even replacing files in System32 with files from my working Windows 7 laptop.

I'm really at my wit's end. I don't mind Windows 8.1, but this problem is irritating.

I tried both of those methods already and none of them worked. I even tried them again just now, still the same problem.
