Password Issue with Word basic file

I'm on a network and have password-protected my Macros.bas file. Occasionally, when other users call up files through a Document Manager, they are asked for that password. The only time I'm asked is when I want to go into the code itself. Any obvious reason for this annoyance?

    Version of Word?
    Word Basic or VBA?
    Document container or template container?
Are you password protecting the module in a template or an exported .bas file?

I'm using Word 2007 with VBA (template container) and I'm password protecting the module in a template.

The only thing I know of to trigger the password request is someone trying to view the code. Simply attempting to open or edit a document based on the template will not trigger a password request.

They may get a macro warning depending on how their security is set.

Yes, I thought something weird was going on that might be difficult to track down. The password prompt for certain other users (and for certain files) comes up on open in the WorkSite document manager. Makes no sense. Anyway, thanks for your input.

"WorkSite document manager?" This is something I am unfamiliar with.

Might that be employing or attempting to examine the vba?

I have seen this issue from time to time with WorkSite and protected VBA projects. There is no attempt to open the code project, but the password is requested. I have never had the opportunity to look very far into the issue because it has always self-corrected before I had the chance. My guess is that WordSite sometimes thinks the template is beind "opened", even though the code is just being referenced by the document to which the template is attached.

Sorry I can't offer a solution, but I can verify that your issue is not unheard of. Is there any chance that the template is in a folder that the user doesn't have rights to?
