Copying table of contact info from Outlook Contact (2000)

Hi -- Today's Office Watch newsletter was perfect for our needs. We need to generate sub-groups of contact names for various mailings. The solution: to create a table in Outlook and cut and paste it into Word or Excel for importing into a mail merge is super. My problem is that I am absolutely unable to select anything but one single cell in the Contact table. In the newsletter, it simply says, use your mouse to select the columns in the view -- but I can't select a column or a row. Just a cell. Any suggestions? Thanks!!! <img src=/S/confused.gif border=0 alt=confused width=15 height=20>

I think you don't need to try and select columns. They will get included when you select your rows. But you do 1st determine the columns that get displayed by defining the table view.

To select the rows you should be able to just click in the table, then choose Edit Menu | Select All. The whole table will be highlighted, If you do not want the whole table you should be able to do a Shift+Click to select contiguous rows, or a Ctrl+Click to select individual rows. Then you do an Edit Menu | Copy.

I'm guessing that your problem is that you're viewing contacts in a card rather than table view. Once you're in table view, if you move your mouse to the left-hand margin, the cursor changes to an arrow angled to the right. With a single click, you will select the entire row. Does that help?
