Am I able to get an upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro from an OEM version of Win 8 Pro?

I've just bought a Dell desktop from a person who runs their own IT company + who has an account with Dell. It came with Win 8 Pro pre-installed on it but I'm having real difficulty in finding an equivalent upgrade to Win 8.1 Pro. Anyone know where I could get one or if, indeed, I'm actually entitled to a free upgrade as it's an OEM machine?

Make sure your Windows 8 Pro is fully updated via Windows Update, then visit The Store for the 8.1 Pro free update.
Create a new drive image before making system changes, in case you need to start over!

Sorry, I should have said that I'd done that already - I'd even cleared the WStore cache as advised but still got no joy. I did a search + found an official MS page that told me that if I had Win 8 Pro installed by an organisation with a volume licnse, (Dell I suppose), I wouldn't find an update in the WS.

I really think that it's something to do with my new PC being an OEM business machine. That's why I wondered in my original post what was the position? Perhaps there's someone out there who actually works at Microsoft + might know the answer.

The page you found refers to large organizations which license software from Microsoft via a volume license although Dell and other OEMs can provide a system which uses an organization's volume license. Just purchasing a PC from an OEM does NOT prevent if from being updated to Windows 8.1. It is all about the original license. You need to find out the original license for Windows 8.
