    Need to RE-install Dial-up Networking??

After a Disaster Recovery from my Backup Tape, I keep getting this error message
in the System Log when I boot into W2K SP2:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Rasman
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 20027
    Date: 11/29/2001
    Time: 11:46:33 AM
    User: N/A
    Computer: SCHNEIER
    Description:
Remote Access Connection Manager failed to start because NDISWAN could not
be opened. Restart the computer. The system cannot find the file specified.

    Data:
    0000: 02 00 00 00 ....
    ---------------------------------------------------------------

My ISP told me that the error message in the log plus the error message I get
when I use my analog modem to Dial-up to the Internet-- Error6 : the Handle is
invalid means I have to re-install the Dial-up because it is corrupted. However, since
my DSL, Static IP connection is working fine, I don't won't to corrupt that connection
just to get the analog modem connection working since I only use it if the DSL is
down and using pcAnywhere works fine.

    Any suggestions?

Re: Need to RE-install Dial-up Networking??

For some reasons, your ndiswan.sys file was not properly restored. Try to re-install SP2 or restore it manually from WINNTServisePackFilesi386 to
    WINNTSystem32dllcache AND
    WINNTSystem32drivers

A good place to look for help on Event IDs is http:www.eventid.net
Click on Search Database and enter 20027 and it gives a couple of possible causes and solutions as well as a reference to Microsoft Knowledge Base article Q117304
