    Stocktake printout assistance

I've a stocktake to organise of around 4,500 items. It can only be done manually as it is a subjective quantitative count.

I've a list of the items as a spreadsheet, but the print-out will run to something like 120 pages with just 3 columns - number, description and quantity, the last being entered by hand.

What I would like to do without a lot of data manipulation is to get these three columns twice onto one page so there is only ~60 pages to print. This would be like getting text into newspaper type columns in Word.

I've ported the data into Word as a CSV file, set up a table but then newspaper columns are from text not a table.

    Anyone got a solution please.

    Thanks

    Rob,

I just tried this in Word 2010 and it works.
    1. Setup the columns first.
    2. Insert the CSV file ( Insert->Object->Text from file)
    3. Select All (Ctrl-A)
    4. Convert to table (Insert->Table->Convert Text to Table...)
    5. Select your options and click OK.

Whee-haa ---- great ! Just how easy was that.

I'm on an older version of word and it went in straight from the file insert at #2.

    Very many thanks indeed.
