    Simple simple (Word 97SR2)

    This should be (and probably is) the simplest problem you've been asked all day:

    What's the code to UNselect a textbox so that the selection border (and the 8 handles) are not visible?

    There is no UNselect method, so, what, just select something else?

    Never mind. I'll go with

    Selection.HomeKey Unit:=wdStory, Extend:=wdMove

    Does Selection.Collapse unselect a selected textbox?

    Re: Simple simple (Word 97SR2)

    hmm. Here's a technique I use in Access with forms. It may work for you in Word.
    I create a text box called txtDummy and put it in an out of the way location on the form.
    Then set it's Width to =0 (which makes it invisible to the naked eye) then make it the first item in the tab order and turn it off from being included in the tabing.
    Now anywhere in code I can do a txtDummy.Setfocus.
    I use this when i want to disable a command buton in code. As you know, If the button has focus the .enable = false will cause an error. so i first set focus to the txtDummy and the do the cmdbutton.Enable = false.

    hope this helps,
    bruce

    Bruce, that's a clever technique. I wrote a routine to handle what you do in one statement. Nice.

    But the issue here is a textbox on in the document layer of Word, not on a userform.

    Thanks, though, for passing on your wisdom. I think I'll use your idea in my userforms! <img src=/S/bow.gif border=0 alt=bow width=15 height=15>
