    Taskbar - Invisible Icons

Why canít I pin anything to my Taskbar? I can go through the process, but no Icon would be visible.
This is my second Win7-32 (Home Premium-32) SP1
I prefer to live with Classic Theme as I adapt or make my own Wallpapers, Icons and Cursors.
On first Win7 it was confusing at first, but easy with some searching to sort everything out and pin my 8 usual items to Taskbar - what used to be Quick Launch. Last year I have bought a stronger machine with better Graphics and transfer did not go smoothly, but that bit worked fine for a few weeks.
Then Iíve evicted Live Mail for malpractice and gone back old WinMail - my icon vanished and no tinkering would put it back. The same happened to text Editor, Screen Hunter and now to IE-11. Whatever I do - Icons remain invisible although they are all nicely listed in AppData folder and I can go and ďunpinĒ them again. Mail and IE live on Desktop now- which I donít like at all!
I must have switched something off in settings, or is it Microsoft tinkering?
I would be grateful for any suggestions!

    Welcome to the Lounge!!!

Have you run "sfc /scannow" from an elevated command prompt?
have you tried a system restore to a time when it was working?
Have you tried a clean boot?
If this just started happening, what change(s) have you made immediately prior? Can they be reversed?

    Thank you for reply, Joe
I have run SFC and system declared itself faultless.
I've used restore for other reason at least twice since the problem started, but task bar function "Pin to" never reappeared. The Icons vanished one by one after application updates, or -with email - after removing Live Mail and engaging old Win Mail

I am new to the Lounge and I don't know how to close the thread, or mark "Solved"? I have found a work- around for my problem and have my Icons where they should be - almost!

Sorry, I should have though of it myself! I have found the info on Microsoft Help website under Windows 7 tutorials -Taskbar. It is a snapshot of instructions, but for some reason I can't attach anything to this message, so here goes: Posted by Ed Kirkpatrick, Nov 19-2009
1-Copy Quick Launch folder from App Data to the folder of your choice and rename to remember.
2-Make sure that all shortcuts are there as you want them, then
3-right click on Taskbar -Toolbars - add your renamed Folder
Then adjust as you like it on Taskbar - no text, small Icons, no labels
    That is all!
