Question Access 2013 Navigation Forms On Navigation Forms buttons lose colour

    This ought to work.

BUT when I have a navigation form as the target of another navigation form.
Meaning the form that get loaded by the navigation button is another navigation form.
The form loads OK, and works fine as a navigation form.

BUT... The form does not maintain the formatting on the left side buttons.

If the form is used on its own, then they work ok.
BUY as soon as it is loaded inside the second navigation form, it makes the selected button white text on white background.
If you go to design and then reset these to different colours it accepts it, until the form is loaded,
and then it just re-sets them back to WHITE on White.
    Weird!!

    Anyone else noticed this?

    Is it me?

I was trying to design the inner navigation form while it was inside the outer one.

    Any feedback would be good.

I understand there are some issues with navigation controls - they were new with 2010, and there are reports of weird behavior, especially if you have your font size set to something other than 100% on your display driver. In addition, the colors seem to be challenges - at least one user had to resort to setting the colours using VBA and RGB settings to get them to behave. Also, as you probably have discovered, when you use a navigation control, it behaves much like a subform, so when you nest them, you are effectively working on a subform of a subform. With that, I've exhausted my knowledge, as I've not personally used them - we have our own scheme.

    Thanks Wendell.
I had a feeling it was a bug.
I thought I might be pushing the envelope.
I will try doing a colour set on load and see if that fixed it.
If not I will just do an old school Menu Style form, and wait for Office 20??
So far the main navigation form has behaved exceptionally well.

OK, to follow this up, with a possible solution, that is working for me anyway...

I tried a different slant on design changes, which I should have thought of at the start.

I changed the design of the second level (subform) navigation form, on it's own.
Tested it on its own, and it worked just fine

Then tested it via the top level Navigation form, and it was fine.

It appears that this may only be an issue, when you attempt to change the design of the sub navigation form, from the design screen of the main navigation form.

Maybe it will eventually get fixed, who know.

See attached image for example with working buttons.
Even when the formatting went wrong, the forms worked ok.
You just couldn't see the text on the buttons...
