Need USB 3 expansion card recommendations

I'm looking to buy a USB 3 4 port expansion card..

    For either:
    PCI EX 1 slot
    PCI Slot

I looked around and there is a dizzying array of cards available in all price ranges.

Any suggestions on a good card about $50.00 or less...Preferably less.

    Thanks...

    I was on Newegg before..

I'm not sure that one will fit..
I think that's a regular PCI expressX16 card and my video card is in that slot..

I'll open the case tomorrow and take a look...

    Thanks...

It fits into a PCI Express x1 (or longer) expansion card slot.

I'll take another look at it.
Is this one you have bought and used?

You did not specify if this is a standard desktop or a compact desktop. The difference is crucial. Compact desktops can usually only fit a compact USB card. Compact USB cards have only 2 ports not 4. This is due to space restriction. Very few manufacturers specify which card faceplate they supply with the cards. Very few manufacturers specify whether the cards fit compact or full size computer cases. They expect the buyer to know before ordering.
If you do a more extensive search you will uncover a few manufacturers that supply their USB card with both compact and full size faceplates. They are interchangeable. However, they usually are only 2 ports. Once again due to space restrictions. Almost all computers sold recently are the compact desktop, not the older more familiar tower type desktops. Which means that only a really old computer can use those 4 port cards.
    Good luck
    Michael

If you're handy with your hands, the bracket comes off with two screws and can be altered quite easily:

The photo in post #8 is exactly what I was referring to. I assume both faceplates come with the unit. In that case, you are good to go. Unfortunately many manufacturers don’t supply both faceplates and don’t specify which will fit where.

You might want to consider backing up your existing drivers before installing the card. You might also want a driver backup after installing.
    Good luck
    Michael

No, as I stated above the original was altered, (quite easily).

Thanks. A bit narrower, (where the screw goes), but it works.
