    Excel: Lost "Recent" list

    Using Office Professional 2010 SP1
I have lost the "Recent" list in Excel, but not other Office programs. No amount of following the instructions and using the program to open files generates anything in the "Recent Workbooks" list. Not sure exactly when this happened, nor any idea why. Windows still generates a list accessible from the Start Menu, but nothing within the program itself. I've tried both searches in these forums and on the Web, but not found anything that resolves the problem.

    Any suggestions?

Thanks for posting this. Unfortunately, it didn't help. I have the options set to 10 documents, but I have also tried changing and saving a different number, but it doesn't help. I have tried opening multiple documents, making changes to those documents and saving them, closing Excel, and re-opening, but there continues to be nothing showing up in the "Recent Workbooks" list.

    Hi

Perhaps you are using something like CCleaner??
This can clear the Excel MRU filelist.
    If you are using CCleaner:
    Disable "Taskbar Jump Lists".
    Found in "winsys.ini".
CCleaner uses the SpecialKey "N_EX_JUMP_LISTS", to perform the cleaning action.

I don't use CCleaner myself, but it might be the issue you are having.

Rule of thumb when issues come out of nowhere with no foreseeable fix....do a system restore with a restore point prior to the issues starting.

You might try cleaning out any temp files in any temp folders.

This is not a helpful comment, at all (sorry about that), but I WISH I could lose the recent list. I have reset both Word & Excel to save NO recent docs to that list and yet there they still are, every stinkin' time I open them up.

Mine, however, seems to be a glitch in my particular copy of Office--it won't hold ANY changes like that, including long entries to auto-correct.
