    Unhappy Registry Cleaners (not)

Somehow my husband has downloaded something called "Registry Reviver" but says he has not run it. Looks like scareware to me. Does anyone know anything about it?

In general i know to stay away from registry cleaners unless i am sure what i am doing. So would like to see this gone from his computer.

    Advice please.

I think it's an OK program from an OK company, but the trial version is very limited until you pay the $30 registration.

There was a discussion about it, including comments from a founder of Reviversoft, a few years ago at MajorGeeks:

    Registry Reviver Review Rogue Scareware

I would remove it though, as you don't need it.

(I tried their Start Menu Reviver, just another start menu replacement for Windows 8, for a few months; it was also OK but unnecessary.)

My advice RE "registry cleaners" has always been and ever shall be, "Never use any registry cleaner for any reason at any time."

No registry cleaner can ever be able to compete at any level with a good drive imaging tool used regularly.
Create a new drive image before making system changes, in case you need to start over!

I quite agree and asked so that i could point out any known problems to my husband, if there were any. After looking at what Bruce mentioned and viewing the web site, i convinced him to uninstall it. Win-win, i think.
