Hello Sudo15. Thanks for your quick reply but I had already looked at the web page referred to and there does not seem to be any download link for the Win 7 Professional version of Windows Media Player 12, or am I missing something?

    Please advise further.

    Thanks and regards,
    Roy

Yes, you are missing something but it's not critical

Scroll down to Windows 7 and to the right it will show the versions it applies to, which includes the Pro version.

Edit - Just checked it myself and see what you mean

    Hang on

Why do you want to reinstall it ?

This may work - go Start and type appwiz.cpl then press Enter.

Click on Turn Windows features on or off and expand Media Features.

Uncheck the box for WMP if already checked then click OK - if it isn't already checked, check it.

Go back into Turn Windows features on or off and re-check the WMP box to see if it will reinstate it.

    Sudo15,

I want to reinstall it because it's not working.

    Your last suggestion didn't work.

Do you, or does anyone else, have any other ideas?

    Please advise.

    Thanks and regards,
    Roy

MS has a Fixit you could try http://support.microsoft.com/mats/wi...yer_diagnostic and came across this other one if that doesn't do it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLk6v-xS1NA

There's no need to sit through the video as the command is written below the video and the video looks to be in Japanese anyway.

This is another YT video and requires a slight registry change to fool Windows which I've tried out in the past to ensure that it is safe, but before making any changes to the registry, either back up the folder to be changed or create a restore point.

I found that it helped to use the Pause and Play to note down the steps.

    Hi Sudo15,

Thanks a lot. The Microsoft Fixit solved the problem, and WMP works now.

    Best regards,
    Roy
