    System File Check in W8.1

    I ran System File Check from Command Prompt and then downloaded the details to my desktop but the file is empty?? If SFC canít fix the problem does that mean I no longer have a clean copy of the file anymore? Iíve run all this twice with the same results.

    Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log %WinDir%\Logs\CBS\CBS.log.

    Thanks

    Most likely, yes, but it's difficult to say for certain.

    You still have the option of safemode scanning and offline scanning mode in an attempt to effect repair;

    You can even scan a specific file.

    Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

    Build your own system; get everything you want and nothing you don't.
    Latest Build:
    ASUS X99 Deluxe, Core i7-5960X, Corsair Hydro H100i, Plextor M6e 256GB M.2 SSD, Corsair DOMINATOR Platinum 32GB DDR4@2666, W8.1 64 bit,
    EVGA GTX980, Seasonic PLATINUM-1000W PSU, MountainMods U2-UFO Case, and 7 other internal drives.

    Would doing a reinstall of W8 possibly solve the problem?

    I did this...follow the highlighted cuts...then re-run the "sfc /scannow". It worked for me.

    I just run the last one,.............../restorehealth. Takes about 10 to 15 minutes. Fixes corruption in the component store, I believe. You need an internet connection to do this.

    ‎5000 years ago, Moses said 2 Israel, "Pick up your shovels, mount your asses & camels, & I will lead you 2 the Promised Land." When Welfare was introduced, Roosevelt said, "Lay down your shovels, sit on your asses, & light up a Camel, this is the Promised Land." Now the government has stolen your shovel, taxed your asses, raised the price of Camels & mortgaged the Promised Land to China

    When you say restore, do you mean a restore point?

    No it was a complete restore to original settings. Reinstall Office and anything else that didn't come with W8. It did force me to do some major house cleaning though.

    Ahh....a factory re-install, as it's called. Yes, but it's nice to start fresh with a nice "clean house". Sometimes it's best just to do a factory re-install.

    I had the same basic problem for some time. Tried this solution and it worked for me. Interesting thing about it is the statement that: "It has come to our attention at there has been a recent explosion of people reporting corruptions with the CNBJ2530.DPB file in Windows 8 and 8.1."
