    Unhappy download dell updates ?

Should I download dell updates which came with Inspiron 15. Dell is flashing message to scan Pc and download updates. Also getting a message that printer driver is out of date. Would Dell updates help this situation? I went to HP and It also wants to sell me updates for my driver of printer. Printer is an Officejet 5780 all-in-one.

    Welcome to the Lounge!!

You could do the scan to see what updates Dell feels are needed and then decide. Most likely they are drivers or BIOS updates. Generally, if a system is running well many people avoid driver updates. The same goes for the printer. There is no way HP should be selling you updates for the printer drivers.

If you choose to update, make a backup of the system first. Then you have a point to which you can recover should something seriously bad happen.

You're right but HP has done this in the past. One reason why I don't buy HP printers. If the printer works, don't bother getting the paid update. If not, it's your decision whether the printer is worth the cost of the update.

If your printer is working well at the present there is no need to update any of it's drivers.
Find out specifically what "updates" dell has.

Wow. I didn't know that HP charges for some printer updates.

I haven't bought an HP printer in a while, but I do support them for other people.

They used to blame it on the size of the download for some of their all in ones so they only offered them on CD that you had to pay for.

Won't do you any good if its not compatible with the current OS. Even if it is, its probably out of date.

Yeah, if you always stay up with the latest version of Windows, I guess they have you.
