    Not valid copy of Windows?

Every so often, I get this message on startup. Usually I can get rid of it by rebooting, but it has on occasion taken a restore of a backup to fix it.

Isn't there some file or way to protect against this happening? It can cost hours sometimes, and it always seems to happen at just the wrong time!

    Chuck,

I'd give MS a call they are usually very helpful with Authentication problems. HTH

CWBillow, are you using a retail version or an OEM version of Windows 7?
and what kind of computer are you using?

You can try to validate your copy of Windows by going to this site using Internet Explorer:
    http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate/
