"No audio device installed" ...yes there is and always has been.

Recently did full reinstall of Vista business. All worked well for a few days but then speakers stopped working and sound icon showed red slash. All connections are good. Any suggestions to fix this? Thanks for all help.

I came across this when cleaning up a Win 7 laptop for a second time having reinstalled the Audio driver the first time around, but on the second occasion I ran AdwCleaner first and Audio was reinstated, so it must have been the malicious add-on as the cause which had then been removed but don't know if this will apply for you.

Try to reinstall the audio driver -- download it from the computer manufacturer's website.
