    formula help

    Hi all,
i have a sample of my data below. Basically, it consists of string of data in one column that i want to fragment into four columns. Note the third column in the output is the sum of the number between the parentheses.

    INPUT OUTPUT
    NAME TYPE ST CO FLAG
    MF-1 (1) :Y MF 1 1 Y
    DF-1 (1) :Y,KF-1 (2) :Y DF&KF 1 3 Y

If you were to post a screen shot of your worksheet with the input and output data in the cells, it would be easier to determine what you want to accomplish.

Could you detail the logic of how the data for each gets delimited? I fail to see the pattern in how you want to break it up.

I posted some code recently showing how you could split strings into separate parts. Have a look and see if that will work.
