    Copying and replacing folders

I am using Windows8. When copying data or a folder from my hard drive on to a portable hard drive or Flash disk using Windows 8, I no longer get a message which gives me the option to overwrite the old file or folder.

It would be appreciated if someone could assist so that when copying data , a pop-up message appears where I get the option to replace the existing file

You will only see this message if there is a duplicate file/folder that all ready exists on the storage device....you won't see the that message otherwise.

Thanks for the reply. I used to get a message to merge the file or folder, but then no further message to replace file. I made a change in the settings (can't remember how) that I now can replace the files if needed

You can try restoring the defaults to your folder options, but quite often if your transferring data or folders in explorer
you won't see the pop-up box unless there is a duplicate file to sort out. (It'll be buried in explore on the taskbar)
