    sorting in Excel (Excel 2000)

    Hi

In Excel 2000 I've got a long list op names and that list (i.e. the names)
varies. I would like to know through a formula how many times each name
    appears in that list.
    How do I do that?

    Thanks

In this thread there are several possible solutions presented. In my post in that thread you can find an attachment that allows you to distract the list of unique entries in a column. Once you got the list of unique names, you can use the COUNTIF function to count the number of appearances of each name in the list.
