How to turn off this Win 7 feature?

I prefer to position my taskbar vertically at the left edge of my desktop. I often have several folders open at the same time. When I hover one of the folders in the taskbar, usually inadvertently, what happens is shown in the image. How can I turn this feature off? It serves me no useful purpose.

    Thanks

Thanks, Bruce. 7+ Taskbar Tweaker did the job, and I'm also using 2 of its other features. Great little utility!
