    Gmail slow loading

I downloaded Adblock Plus on 21 Jan 14 - beginning 22 Jan 14, Gmail has been slow to load/respond (15-20 seconds vs. 2-5)
Does Adblock have any effect on Gmail, or is the Gmail problem universal?

Hi and welcome to the Lounge,

Gmail seems to load normally for me (even if I don't use it much). Have you tried to disable AdBlock and see if it has any effect?

Not sure if this is the true reason or not, but it occurs to me that since Gmail is an ad-driven service -- the advertisers, not you, pay for the service -- that might be why something like AdBlock is slowing down Gmail.

Rui's suggestion that you disable AdBlock to see if it has any effect will tell you if my theory is right or wrong.

I use Adblock, and in FF, it's quite fast - about 2 or 3 seconds. I've just tried it in Chrome (again with Adblock) and it takes about the same sort of time.

For those using Chrome (no need to use Samsung chromebook), there is an article about speeding up GMail (http://www.omgchrome.com/make-gmail-...rm-chromebook/) .

Also, having add-ins or switches or labs enabled slow it down, too.
