    converting month (Access 2000)

    Hi there,

I understand that the month function in Access can give you the month number in a date. I wonder if there is an equivalent function that gives you the actual text name of the mont, such as Jan, Feb, etc.

    Thanks

There is a MonthName() function that will return the name of a month if given a number. MonthName(3) will return 'March'. There is also the Format() function - Format(Yourdate, "mmm") will return 'Jan', 'Feb', etc. Search Help from any code page for more details on these two functions.

    Thanks Jack,

While I could not make the monthname() work, your format does the wonderful job.

    Thanks again.

MonthName is a VBA string function. Here's the syntax for it:

MonthName(Month As Long, [Abbreviate As Boolean = False])
    Charlotte
