    Start Menu Problem

I had a number of Programs pinned to the Start Menu so that I could run them easily from there when needed.

They have all "gone missing" from the Start menu.

Can anyone tell me how to recover them?

    Thanks,
    Dick

    PS,
    I'm running W7 Home Premium SP1

    Dick,

See this article which provides 2 possibilities.
The display for the 1st possibility is as follows:

    Hi RG:
When I look at properties/customize both "start menu size" elements are greyed out.
I ran the 2nd suggestion in the link, and it indicated success; but, when I restarted . . ."no joy."

The funny thing is, if I "pin to start menu" something I know I had there before, it shows up with pgm-name (2).
It's almost like the originals are there, but not visible.

Had you downloaded anything prior to them going AWOL ?

Have you tried your restore points to around the last time you saw them there ?

Thanks George. I tried that, and that's part of the problem. They don't show up.

Thanks Sudo15. "Great minds (yours, not mine) think alike."
Last night, before hitting the sack, I had already decided to restore my latest image, rather than futz around trying to bring back my awol Start Menu items.

I have done so, and all is well again.

    Best,
    Dick

BTW, as a "belt and suspenders" type of approach, I also decided to follow a tutorial on the SevenForums on pinning a folder to the taskbar. I created a folder for shortcuts, and then created shortcuts for all the programs I have pinned to the Start Menu. All those shortcuts were then moved to my shortcuts folder.

Now if my Start Menu soldiers go awol ever again, I can fall back to this new folder.

Thanks for all the help offered,
    Dick

That sounds a bit convoluted I think I would prefer to just fall back on restore points or a back up, but glad you've got 'em back.
