    Frozen update

    Hi
I have a laptop with XP on it which I do not use very often.
The late time I switched it on it wanted to do 3 updates, I left it to it, I came back after a while and it had done 2 of 3, came back even later and it was still the same, it had frozen, the cursor would not move. I left it over an hour still the same.
I switch of the power to reboot, to see if it would continue with the upgrade, it seemed to work, but the next time I switch it on, it did it again, and every time since, even if it is not the net.
I does not always give you the option to bypass the upgrade, and sometimes it does it any way.
I have tried System Restore did not work, went back well before the upgrade did not work. Tried to uninstall the upgrade it would not let me.
I run Ashampoo WinOpimixer in all modes hoping it would clean it out, it didnít
    Does anybody have any ideas

I have found a cure for a Frozen update in March 12 Webuser

bit.ly/fixit340 I run this one but did not work, may work for some one else

bit.ly/reset340 I run this one and it found the fault and cured it.

Thanks to a Microsoft site and Webuser

The links aren't active, perhaps you could go to the actual sites and then copy the URL.

    Hi Sudo

If you go to the top of your browser and type in bit.ly/fixit340 it will take you to the site, it will not work in Google etc. the site URL are below.

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-gb/w...#1TC=windows-7 [it works in XP]

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058

In the same order as before

I fixed the links. The problem is that the original links are not automatically recognized by the forum software.

Yes, the second one can usually do the job but always thought the Fixit did the same.
