    Win 8.1 NumLock on default

My son has a new computer with 8.1 and I'm trying to help him with a couple of issues. We have searched and see a couple of procedures for making this change. One suggestion was to disable "fast startup" and that idea was not appealing to him, whether or not the difference in startup speed would be noticeable. The other remedy was a registry edit. I'm comfortable with that if I can be sure what value to assign to the "InitialKeyboardIndicators". In the registry I go to: HKEY_USERS>DEFAULT>Keyboard and in the right hand pane choose "InitialKeyboardIndicators". The Value data can then be edited. An online answer was to change the Value data to "0" (no quotes) The Value data number in my son's computer is: 2147483648. We have not been willing to change this 10 digit number to a single digit 0.

Does anyone here have a suggestion?

    Sorry for the long post.

0 is for OFF. If you want NumLock ON after login, try 2147483650: How to Turn Num Lock on by Default in Windows 7 & 8
