    ged files

I cannot open files ending in .ged. These are genealogy documents that were sent to me showing lineages of my ancestors. I have a Windows 7 laptop purchased a few years ago. I also use a pc using xp windows.

You will likely need a parent program that specifically handles ".ged" files.
Windows 7 or XP will not recognize them unless the parent program is installed and the said files are accessed through
    the genealogy program.
You will also need to ensure that the genealogy program in question is supported.
