Please answer a question about Word 2007 document as Read Only?

I have sent my resume as a Word 2007 document to an employment agency. They need to add their header to my resume, and are telling me that cannot do so because the Word document is Read Only. I have never encountered this problem. Isn't any Word document saved to one's own local drive able to be edited when one opens it? The only time a Word doc is Read Only I have found is when it is opened from the email as an attachment but not saved to one's local drive.

    Am I correct?

    Thanks.

The issue is most likely a security one at their end. Unless your document has macros and/or ActiveX controls, it's really their issue - you can't fix it.

Thanks. Yeah, I figured as much. They probably didn't save it to their drive first.

Send it to them in Rich Text Format, and let them put their header on it and format it and make it look nice.

That won't do anything to address the read-only issue...
