Any way to send a fax for free?

There are times I want to send a fax. I just have a telephone number (to send a fax), no email address.

Is there anyway for me to type an email or just a .doc file and fax it

I am looking to do this for free

    I don't do a lot of faxing, but when I have the need, this site has successfully faxed things for me for free;

Invest a little time and energy in a well thought out BACKUP regimen and you will have minimal down time, and headache.

I find Faxing is problematic if not using a landline [with the Voice Carrier signal] as most recipients still use older fax machines. I use All-in-One printer/scanner/copy/Fax machines for my infrequent needs.

Check out Delrina WinFax LITE (http://bit.ly/1o3Kf9V) or look for an old version of Supervoice's SuperFax (new version is not free).
If you have windows 7 try also (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-AU/w...s-fax-and-scan)

We regularly get asked about a fax machine and don't have one for Public use, so I compiled a list of
several free Faxing sites. Some will do incoming faxes for free others outgoing, but none do both.

Here's my list for what it'sd worth:

    OUTGOING (SENDING)

    Got Free Fax -- http://www.gotfreefax.com
3 page maximum per fax; only 2 free faxes per day.
    Paid services are also available.

    Fax Zero -- http://www.faxzero.com
3 page maximum per fax; 5 free faxes per day maximum.
    Paid services are also available.

    Free Fax Button -- http://www.freefaxbutton.com
Maximum of 2 free faxes per day; INTERNATIONAL FAXES also free to their list of countries.

    INCOMING (RECEIVING)

Special software may be needed to receive some of these; check to see file type they are sent as (efx, pdf, tif). Often they are sent to you via your email account.

    E-fax Free -- http://www.efax.com/efax-free
10 pages peer month received for free using EFX format.
Free accounts get non-local fax numbers; paid accounts have choices.

    Voxox -- http://www.voxox.com (Unified communications)
Maximum 2MB per Fax. Free to Receive; charge for sending.
(Your number is a US number selected at random; custom numbers available at a charge)

    K7.net -- http://www.k7.net (Unified communications)
Up to 20 messages (voice mail & faxes combined at one time).
Messages are wiped after 7 days.
Phone numbers are Washington State nos. (area codes 206,425, 253)
Accounts are terminated if not used within 30 days; new accounts are
terminated if no fax or voicemail within 72 hours of activation.
Voicemails are .wav files; faxes are .tif files.

    Hope you find this helpful.

Long distance charges will apply to any landline fax sent long distance.

Check your hardware and see if you have a faxmodem. If you have a standard telephone socket on your computer, chances are you have an internal modem, which is likely to be fax-capable. If you have a desktop computer it’s a simple enough matter to add one, and it will probably be inexpensive (judging from the cost of multifunction devices such as a four-in-one).

If you have a laptop it was complicated in times gone by – I had a PCMCIA faxmodem with a dongle and heaven knows what, but things should be simpler now.

Any external modem could be fax-capable – I have never checked.

For software, every late version of Windows has Windows Fax and Scan as part of the package, but I don’t think it’s active by default. Just turn it on and you’re in business. I have no idea how good it is.

You can get free email addresses from Hotmail or Gmail (i.e. Microsoft or Google, respectively), or presumably other sources. You can say it all in the body of the email, or use a document as an attachment.

When desperate, corner stores or office business stores have fax machines available for a small fee – I think it’s fifteen cents a page hereabouts.
