    Unhappy Outlook 2007: Can't shut down auto-archive?

    G'day there,

I am using Outlook 2007 on an XP machine. Specs below.

I use my 2007 Outlook Calendar for recording everything and it also ties in with my business tax returns; consequently I don't want to archive any of the calendar items (for 5-years to keep tax man happy)

It does not matter what I options I choose in Autoarchive, they are ignored and Outlook is running Autoarchive daily on my calendar.
    Tools; Options; Other; Autoarchive

If I use Folder List; Right Click; Properties; Autoarchive these options are also ignored.

I have been doing battle with this for months now and am much greyer as a result!

    Please help:
    *What's broken?
    *How can I stop Autoarchive?
*Is there a way to reset the options; e.g. could I delete OST/PST file to reset options?

    Everything is up to date.

The size of the PST/OST file is not an issue because I don't use Outlook 2007 to store my emails...

I thank you for the help in anticipation?

How often Autoarchive runs is determined by the general autoarchive settings in the Advanced section of the Outlook options.

Are you saying that if you select "Do not archive" on the Calendar, items are still archived?

Ah good question Joe and one I should have thought to answer before you asked it!

No it's a personal computer, so no system admin autoarchive policies have been set?

    No Joe.
When looking for it just found Office Diagnostics which I rang now. 6 packages run. 1 error found and repaired although was not told what the error was?

I am guessing Control Panel; Add & Remove Programmes; Office 2007; repair or change? If not how do i repair it please?

    Thanks for the help.

Also, you can try creating a new email profile. See How to create profile and set up an e-mail account in Outlook for details.
