Is XP Mode or any virtual XP PC safe to use?

    By Fred Langa

When running XP in a virtual PC, the host system is safe but the XP VPC isn't. Here's why. Plus: How secure is "secure enough"?, Android Gmail app truncates long emails, and a new cloud-storage price war that's great news for consumers.

Maybe so Fred, but I pretty much use my XP VM as a sandbox which I recover a gold standard backup often enough that I don't really care. Running SBIE withing my sandbox as well (so double-sandboxed) as I have already explained in other post here. I'm pretty content that what I've done will protect my Win7 64-bit OS well enough since I rarely, if ever, browse within Win7 itself.

Generally, I can see how XP is vunerable.

However, how will running a program without internet access in XP mode be vulnerable? All access to the Internet is done via Windows 7, so is as protected as any Windows 7 program may be. Am I right in thinking that such programs are safe?
