    Problem with Acer Aspire touchpad

Hi, Just bought a used Acer Aspire 3100 with Windows 7 home Premium - leaving XP only because I have to. It has a touchpad with a very sensitive tap (equates to left click) function. I hate it - I wind up clicking things by accident over and over.My Toshiba either didn't have it or already turned off and on my IBM I was able to disable in mouse properties. Mouse properties here give no options - can't rid of tap and can't enable scrolling on the centre button. A Google search suggests that some people do have the ability to control these functions in "Mouse Properties" but I don't. Perhaps an Updated driver? hopefully someone else has solved this.
    TIA
    Brian S

You appear to have a Synaptics touchpad. You can find updated drivers here:
    http://www.synaptics.com/en/drivers.php

Make sure you make a new System Restore point before installing a new driver so you can backtrack if something goes wrong.

    Thanks Joe and jwitalka,
Before I looked in the BIOS I went again to the Acer website and found and installed a driver from a later laptop - 15.2.9.0 - and this made all the tabs visible to disable tapping and enable scrolling. That over sensitive tap function is the worst.
    Thanks again.
