Empty Word Thesaurus (Office 97/Windows 2000)

One of our clients called our help desk with a problem I've never seen, and the curiosity is killing me. The user had recently received a new build of his machine. When he attempts to invoke the Thesaurus in Word, he gets a completely empty Thesaurus. The form loads, but there are no synonyms for any word. Does anyone have any idea what could cause such a problem?

Thanks in advance for help with this, and thanks in arrears for all the help I've received in the past

Just a thought, but it sounds like the DLL or other file that contains the Thesaurus data is corrupt or missing or your have a bad registry entry. Have you considered re-installing Word/Office?

Thanks for your help. When I got your answer, I called the client to ask what they'd done to fix the problem. Turns out they had a flaw in their build causing all new users to have this problem. They reinstalled everything and got it right the second time.

    Thanks very much
