I've got the paid version and I let it do a scheduled threat scan while I continue to work. It only causes a slight decrease in performance while it does it's thing.

Beginning sometime this last Friday, the first regular MBAM2 program update (v2.0.1) should have offered to be downloaded/installed.

    Cheers.

Microsoft Safety Scanner - default Quick scan took 3 minutes 47 seconds
    McAfee Stinger x64 v12.1.0.853 - default scan took 12 minutes 29 seconds

I was inspired to fire MBAM up. Version 1.75, updated...I always just run the full scan...tells me it's been 61 days since my last scan. Any reason not to stick with 1.75 as long as it's still functional and updating and the user is extraordinarily nonchalant and unburdened by security?

You pick up the Anti Rootkit technology with 2.0. Other than that, I suspect the Malware detection capabilities are similar. I also suspect that Threat Scan catches more than Quick Scan which is why it takes longer. If it were me, I would update to 2.0 but I wouldn't lose any sleep using MB 1,75

Ah, well that might be interesting, my computer is so boring, only 1 PUP found in the temp files after two months.

The following is from the FAQ:

MBAM 2.0 also has built-in and improved our Anti-Rootkit and Chameleon self-protection technologies.

Most importantly, MBAM 2.0’s detection and removal engine are significantly improved under the hood.

This is a far cry from the 20 minute mark that was mentioned.
Even if slightly more than the previous version, still, can legitimately be thought of as 'quick', one would think.

Plus there are a number of other improvements over the prior version.

    To repeat:

What is illustrated above is a Threat Scan and it does supersede the old Quick scan. I would guess that both Rootkits and Archives were being scanned.

As multiple Threat scans may be scheduled in the consumer-Premium version, I would suggest a scan like that be made maybe once per month. Another Threat scan, without Rootkits and Archives selected, could be scheduled more frequently - perhaps once per week. Then a scheduled Hyper scan might scan could be once per day. YMMV

    Cheers.

I upgraded MalwareBytes even though both my subscription still had time left. I also got the CD for a couple of extra bucks. I immediately downloaded the upgrade on my desktop and noticed an improvement of the number of bad stuff that was found and deleted, including the PUP virus.

When the CD arrived, I ran it on the desktop and it immediately did an upgrade. When that was done, I got the laptop out and ran the disc. Same results, it immediately did an upgrade and cleaned-up some stuff. MalwareBytes beats Norton and other programs, hands down. I like it.

Build 2.0.2.1012 has now gone Gold/RTM/Final.

If you installed build 2.0.2.1012 as a Beta, that MBAM version is now the current release.

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 2.0.2.1012 was released today
