change proportion to percentage in place (2000)

    Hi,
I need to change a table of proportions (e.g., .803) to percentages WITHOUT the percent sign (e.g., 80.3). To make things more complicated, I need to do this "in place" (in other words, I can't simply copy the cell entry, multiply by 100, and put the result in a different cell). I've mucked about with trying to design a custom format but without success. Any suggestions or paths to pursue would be most appreciates.

    Many thanks,

    Bob

Re: change proportion to percentage in place (2000)

The following procedure will multiply the cells by 100:

1- Select any empty cell and enter 100 into it.

2- Select that cell again, and then select Copy from the Edit menu.

3- Select all of the cells that contain the proportions.

4- Select Paste Special from the Edit menu.

5- In the dialog box in the Operation section select Multiply.

    6- Click OK.

All of the proprotions should now be converted to percents without the percent sign.
