Word 2007/2010: Is there a way to sort the sections in a document

    Hi all,

Word 2007/2010: Is there a way to sort the sections in a document in alphabetical order of the section names?

    TIA

Since Word's idea of a section is possibly different to yours then perhaps you are considering a 'section' to be a Heading 1 paragraph followed by some content.

If that is the case, try this:
    1. Add the Sort... button to your QAT
    2. Change to Outline view
    3. On the Outlining tab, set Show Level to Level 1
    4. Do a Ctrl-A to select all and then click on the Sort button you added in step 1. Choose your preferred settings and click OK
    5. Change back to the Page Layout view

Andrew gave better directions than I could have. If you are curious about what a "Section" means in Word jargon, see Sections in Word Ribbon Versions.

For information on adding a command to the QAT, see this page.
