Storing IMAP email locally with graphics

I recently started using IMAP rather than POP3, running Outlook 2010 in Windows 7. I'd like to save some messages in my local .pst file and delete them from the server. When I move messages to the local folder, any graphic elements apparently are still only on the server. If I disconnect from the Internet, the graphics aren't there locally.

Is there a way to download a message from the server, graphics and all, so I can save the complete message locally?

Do you open the email first or at least tell Outlook to download the pictures?

    Joe,

I do open any email I would want to save. In my advanced send/receive settings, I've selected "Download complete items including attachments for subscribed folders." Is there another setting somewhere about downloading pictures?

    Thanks,

    -Stuart

There is a setting for pictures download. Go to File | Options | Trust Center | Trust Center Settings (button) | Automatic Download. Make sure the first Check box (Don't download pictures automatically) is cleared.

That check box is cleared. When I'm online, messages display with all their graphic elements. When I'm offline, they don't. I guess that's just the way it is, right? Unless an image is included as an attachment, it's not actually in the message - it's just linked to, like an image on a web page. I suppose if I really want to save a message, including its linked images, I'd have to print it to a PDF file or do something similar.

    Thanks for your help.

After reading a few threads in other forums, you need to save the email message as an HTML file or paste into a word document or as you suggested print as a PDF. Sorry, I can't be of more help.
