    Kb2933809

    Hi all

    I've just successfully implemented KB2919355 (8.1 Update 1)

I have now received KB2933809 via Windows Update which allegedly addresses a compatibility issue following the Update. Since (so far) I've experienced no issues, would the wisest thing be to skip this compatibility patch for the time being - or has anyone installed it already, with no issues?

    Many thanks

    Spokes,

My update history shows that update installed on 4/10/2014. I've not noticed any problems. Also note that it is marked as Recommended not Important! HTH

Read the KB article - Compatibility update is available for Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2: April 2014.

If you do not have any of these programs you can safely ignore the update for now. I've had the update installed since 4/8/2014 on multiple systems without any apparent issues.

Thanks, both. Yes I did read the article but just wanted to make sure. I'll put it on ice for the time being, until I've had a few days running the 8.1 Update update.

I was surprised that my system RE-INSTALLED the Windows 8.1 Update (KB2919355) after installing this particular "recommended" update(?) (see my post: http://windowssecrets.com/forums/sho...ate-Experience)

It appears that Microsoft have been tweaking the install requirements and pre-requisites for KB2919355. Other updates can cause it to be re-offered. The update you re-installed was very likely just a small part of the complete 8.1 update.

I see in the latest edition of Windows Secrets that : "(Note: Win8.1 users who downloaded KB 2919355 early might see the update offered again. It's not the full update; it's a small fixit patch you should install.)"

    So that explains things!!

And there is more here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2919355

The key paragraph at the above link states: "5.Windows Update may offer update 2919355 again even when the computer already have update 2919355 installed. This is expected and is in order to resolve a Windows Update client issue. Windows Update only installs the additional fixes for Windows Update clients instead of all the Windows 8.1 update packages."
