Error code 39 for my CD/DVD Drive

My CD/DVD just stopped working and when I access the drive info from Control Panel-Device Manager I get this notice: "Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"

I seem to recall reading somewhere that there is a procedure for curing this problem but have been unable to find it.

My laptop is WIN 7 and the CD/DVD drive is AD7760H SCSI

Anyone have some suggestions on how or where I can find the procedure for correcting this problem.

    Much thanks

See http://pcsupport.about.com/od/findby...e-39-error.htm for some possibilities. I would start with a system restore to a date prior to the error.
