    Can't duplicate Live Mail on new machine

    I have just bought a new laptop and installed Windows Live Mail, (I use the same on my desktop.) Both are Windows 7 64 bit machines. My problem is that on the new machine, the storage folders that I created and use on my desktop are not appearing when I sign in on the new machine. Can anyone suggest how I can get the folders to appear?

    Hi fbob6969, do this on your old pc. WLM Export.pdf Import is nearly identical.

    Windows Live Mail folders

    The above may provide more insight into the WLM setup. I do the same thing you are with my laptop.

    Try this simple batch program:

    @Echo off
    CLS
    xcopy /e /-y /h C:\users\younam~1\appdata\local\micros~1\wif77b~1\ *.* s:\Backup\WindowsLiveMail
    echo.
    echo
    echo.
    echo.
    echo Job Finished.
    echo.
    echo.
    echo Click X or Close to Return to Windows.

    Younam~1 is your profile but you can only have 8 characters hence ~1. s:\backup..........=is the backup destination

    This copies the whole WLM directory to a destination of your choice. When restoring, delete the directory in users and copy all the files over from your backup. You may be prompted to reinstall password(s)

    Hope this helps
