Question Old Yahoo classic email with a new annoyance

Good ol' Yahoo email has been running on my old XP desktop for eons with essentially no issues. It's also now running on a fairly new Win7 laptop, but with an annoyance.

When I scroll down to read a message on XP and then delete it, the screen automatically goes to the top/beginning of the next message. When I do the same on W7, the screen displays the word "Loading" with a moving ellipsis (i.e. Loading...) at the top edge of the message screen and just sits there without auto returning to the top of the next message. The next message is displayed, alright, but I have to manually scroll up to see it.

Both machines use Yahoo Mail Classic (I haven't switched), and I have only one Yahoo email account, so they both access it, use the same settings, and see the same messages.

    Has anybody else seen this?

    Thanks!

    Lanshark!

I just bumped into this old post of yours. I'm having the exact same issue on my mother's computer that was recently upgraded from XP to Win7 x64. Did you ever resolve the issue? If so, please tell me how!

(Before Mom drives me nutz, please???)

    Thanks!

    Hi,
Could you advise as to which web browser(s) you've used that exhibit this behavior.

Along the top of your inbox, find View toward the right, click on the arrow to examine the options, change the Preview Pane from Bottom to None

    Yahoo Mail's Continuing Weirdness

ehorwitz1: The problem disappeared as Yahoo continued to meddle with their email interface for the past year or so. Of course, every problem they "resolved" seemed to introduce another, and that's still going on! What their systems people are doing is beyond me... sorry I can't be more specific.

DavidHLevin: The behavior I described was seen using the most recent version of Firefox, which is still my favored browser. I have looked at a couple of the newer ones but dropped them for not supporting RoboForm. I use IE6 on my XP desktop only for a specific app; I have IE11 on my W7 laptop, but only use it in case of emergencies.

cmptrgy: I have had the preview pane shut off since it first became available. On my Yahoo client, Preview Pane on/off is found by clicking the gear icon at the upper right, then Settings.

I have 3 Windows 7 computers and use Yahoo email without any problems
--- You are correct that you can find the Preview Pane setting as you posted but it's also accessible by the View method I posted on each one of my computers so either way it's accessible
--- I just thought the View method was more easily accessible since it's immediately easy to see and the purpose of the recommendation was to find out what setting is being use
--- Whether or not it's a browser issue I cannot say but I use IE11, not Firefox and it sounds like your issue started when "The behavior I described was seen using the most recent version of Firefox"
------ "Both machines use Yahoo Mail Classic (I haven't switched)" - Maybe the new Firefox version has
--- What happens when you switch back to IE11?
------ Maybe Yahoo's Mail Classic is being phased out for newer browser versions As alluded to Who knows what Yahoo is doing?
--- Anyway I do not use Firefox but when I was at my son's house I updated his Firefox to the latest version
------ The interface was a little different but I had no problem with either of my Yahoo (yahoo.com) email accounts
------ My son & his wife also use Yahoo email but they have ymail.com accounts

It sounds like it's time to contact Yahoo customer service
--- I have done so for a couple of friends of mine for some issues they had and each time the issue was resolved although it took about a week to accomplished what needed to be done

Maybe even Firefox customer service should be contacted
