    Strange Windows 8.1 Update Experience

    Windows 8.1 Update (KB2919355) was automatically downloaded and installed onto my system on 09 April. All has gone well since then.

    On 12 April, "Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems" (KB2933809) was downloaded and installed. No problems experienced.

    Details:

    Update type: Recommended

    Install this update to resolve issues in Windows. For a complete listing of the issues that are included in this update, see the associated Microsoft Knowledge Base article for more information. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.

    Strangely though, KB2919355 (Windows 8.1 Update) was downloaded and installed AGAIN yesterday (21 April) ????

    Why did this happen after installing a recommended update??? Any ideas? (See screen shot of my Windows Update history)

    5. Windows Update may offer update 2919355 again even when the computer already have [sic] update 2919355 installed. This is expected and is in order to resolve a Windows Update client issue. Windows Update only installs the additional fixes for Windows Update clients instead of all the Windows 8.1 update packages.

    This issue was resolved in the latest version of this update that is [sic] released on April 15.

    @BruceR: Thanks.

    I see in the latest edition of Windows Secrets that : "(Note: Win8.1 users who downloaded KB 2919355 early might see the update offered again. It's not the full update; it's a small fixit patch you should install.)"

    So that also explains things!!
