Question Schedule Windows Defender Scan in 8.1.1

I would like to be able to schedule scans in Defender but Microsoft has nothing posted as to how to accomplish this. They do have an excellent tutorial on scheduling on Windows 7, but it doesn't carry over to 8.1.1. Has anyone ran across this problem? Your replies would be most appreciated. Thanks.

This works in Windows 8 and 8.1. I'll wake my laptop to see if it also works with 8.1.1.
Create a fresh drive image before making system changes, in case you need to start over!

    'squire',

Yes, it is, indeed, true tasks can be scheduled, including WD scanning. It's all the same, 7, 8.0, 8.1, 8.1.1, doesn't matter. However, WD scans daily by default. The time it does it can be changed in Task Scheduler if wanted. For example, my own, if I go look in Task Scheduler it runs @ 8:21 each day. Personally, I don't care when as long as it is every day.

I will, also, take this opportunity to, again, mention how easily things can be found in Windows 8. Let's use Task Scheduler as an example but, this can be applied to anything. It's just so fast & simple if this method is used.

Hit the Win Key Depending on what options you are using this will either > Start or ALL Applications screen but, that's ok because either can be used.
Once you have one of those screens just begin typing what you seek... T A S K and the Search Bar will pop out w/ what you wanted or a list of possible related choices.

Win8 makes life easy & quick... learn to enjoy letting it do the work & the thinking for you. This is, especially, true when Searching. So, remember, if you want something > Start or ALL Applications & just type, it will do the rest.

Try it w/ anything. In other words, no need to open run & type full words or bunches of steps. Win Key & begin typing... that's as complicated as it needs to be You can Search w/in the computer OR the Net this way, too.
