    Surge silences sound card

During a storm two days ago I heard a transformer blow and a surge ran through our house.

My sound card on my HP desktop quit working.

    Any suggestions for reviving it?

    TIA

Are you sure it is the sound card and not the speakers?

Presumably using earphones/headphones will show whether it's the card or the speakers.

Is it a sound card or the built-in sound on the motherboard?
Either way, I doubt you can revive it. Your easiest fix is to install a new sound card.
If it is the built-in sound on your motherboard, you'll have to delve into the BIOS and disable the built-in so the sound card can take over.
