    Folder view

Hi guys, this is something I remember knowing at one time, but it seems to have fallen out of my feeble brain. Also, probably something so simple that I'm a bit ashamed to not know it - lol.

I set the 'view' on a folder to "details" which is where I want it to stay, but after closing and re-opening it, I find it has changed to "large icons". I know that there must be a way to tell the 'view' to stay as it was set, but darn if I can remember it.

    Help?

Go to Control Panel > Folders and set your view preferences, then click Apply to all folders.
Create a new drive image before making system changes, in case you need to start over!

Yes, I can see how that would work, unfortunately when going to Control Panel, Folder Options, I don't see anything saying what the 'view' will be. Also, I don't necessarily want ALL folders to be set the same way. Seems to me that there used to be a way to set each folder view to what you wanted permanently, like holding the shift key when closing the folder with the red X button. (Tried that, it doesn't work on my system).

Perhaps this How To Geek link will help.
