Single rule for a single email

Is there a way to apply a selected rule to only the current message? I would then be able to apply a category to a single rule in am IMAP inbox -- so I would want to be able, on the selected e-mail. Clear any category and then pick the right one(s).

I can do this with rules, but I cannot figure how to have a single rule work on a single e-mail.

    Regards,

If you make the rule execute first and have a "Stop Processing" in it that rule will be the only one executed.

Can you make one or more quick steps that will do what you want?

Joe I do not believe I can, because categories can't be applied to IMAP messages, except, strangely, via rules. The category "picker" is greyed out for IMAP accounts, but a rule will still apply a category.

    Strange...

The button (VB) code works! Down at the bottom, Diane has the code for a macro that, even with IMAP folders pops up the Category selection window and then applies the chosen category. Pretty much exactly what I need!

Thanks Joe (and, of course, Diane!)

    Thanks,
