Workaround for Outlook 2000 E-mail Security Patch (Outlook 2000 SP-2)

Has anyone applied the "Outlook Insecurity Post Patch" available from:
    http://www.zdnet.com/downloads/stories/inf...5,77733,00.html

This purportedly will modify the "outllib.dll" file to allow the user to open
e-mail attachments of all kinds -- the ones that are normally blocked
by Microsoft's security patch in SP-2.

I'd like to add the benefits of SP-2 to my Office 2000 Pro installation, but
not if I can't open attachments from my e-mail. This looks like the ideal
workaround, but I was wondering if anyone else has tried it.

    Regards and thanks.

there are better ways to get the attachments than hacking the dll. see <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup/getexe.htm>http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/esecup/getexe.htm</A>

i recommend using chilton preview - you can toggle it on to get attachments and toggle it off to provide maxium protection.

Thanks, Mary. I'll check into it tomorrow.
