MSN not synching in Outlook 2010 or WLM

My MSN email account is not sending or receiving emails in Outlook 2010 (Error: 80041004) and Windows Live Mail (Error: 0x800488EB) on my PC.
Have deleted account and reinstalled account in Outlook 2010, still does not work.
MSN account works fine on two laptops.
Other email accounts work fine in both programs.
PC. Windows Home Premium 32 bit all up to date.
This problem has only started within the last couple of days.

    Regards
    Brian

    Hi Brian

Can you check your account settings and tell me what the account type is? POP, IMAP, HTTPS?

    Thanks

    Hi Bash2
I am new to this forum stuff so please forgive me.
    Outlook 2010 is MAPI
    WLM is HTTP
In both cases I can see no way of changing them.
The last email received was 7 May.

    Thanks for your reply

    Hi Bash2
    Just checked my laptops
One uses WLM and the other one uses Outlook 2010 and both are working fine
Both have the same settings as my PC
    Cheers

    Hi Brian

Were you able to configure the accounts or did the issue fix itself?

If not, you can see instructions HERE.

    Hi bash2,
I was able fix the issue in WLM using the instructions you linked to.
Unable to fix the problem in Outlook 2010 but as I don't use Outlook as my default Mail I am not going to worry about it.

    Thanks for your help.
    Much appreciated.

    Regards
    Brian

Users of Hotmail/MSN.com have a limit (unkown) how much stored folders and content are available to non-paying subscribers (not paying of MSN Premium). Try deleting excessive folders and/or folder contents. Wait overnight to allow MSN to update their system for cleaning up that may help. The error you mention 80041004 is usually show as an Outlook Connector error. Hope that works like it did for me.

I have different, but a roughly similar problem. I can't get my MS Outlook to sync with my Outlook.com. I've downloaded and tried to run the connector, but it doesn't seem to connect. My Outlook is Pop3 and I understand that it only works with IMAP, but for some reason I can't get it to take an account in IMAP. I have set it up a number of different ways (depending on variables on port numbers or encryption, etc. given in different help pages), but nothing seems to work. At the end of the setup if I click on "Test Account Settings" it works and it sends me a test email. But if I then click on "next" I get a popup that says "requested Operation Failed," with no explanation. It happens EVERY time.
    Any ideas? Suggestions? Hints?
