    Unhappy windows 8.1 updates

    Cannot update 8.1 updates. Message is " service cannot be started it is disabled or it has no enabled devices associated with it" How do I Enable it or find devices .

    Try the Windows Update Troubleshooter at Control Panel, Troubleshooting, System and Security.

    But it could mean that a virus infection needs to be cleaned up.

    Have you tried the Event logs? Since they are time stamped, if you note the time when the message is displayed, you will only have to look at a few entries per log.

    They may not have an entry that corresponds with your message, or the Event log entries may be so cryptic that they are useless, but sometimes they are spot on, and they are easy to check.
