Prevent Accidentally Switching to a Microsoft Account from Local Account

    Hey Y'all,

While poking around I ran into this setting in Local Security Policy:

    Accounts: Block Microsoft accounts

For those like me who want to log-in to Windows 8+ with a Local UID/Password this setting will prevent accidentally switching to a MS account by Microsoft's constant attempts to get you to to do.

Here's the TechNet Article on the setting.

I don't know if this will affect the using of things like One Drive or Skype. I'll be investigating this and reporting back. Does anyone out there have any experience with this setting? HTH

Here's the first update on this setting.

I changed the setting to: Users can’t add or log on with Microsoft accounts

I can still sign into Skype desktop.

When I go to Mine Sweeper I used to hit the Cancel button on the log-in screen and then play locally. Since making the change I've signed in once, without getting prompted to switch to a MS account, and now every time I start Mine Sweeper I'm automatically logged into my MS XBox account...what a difference a setting makes.

Update: The MS Store is working and no further log-in required.
